The Ayrshire Hospice
What we are looking for:
We are seeking new Trustees to join our Hospice Board, to contribute knowledge, skills and innovative thinking to drive the organisation through the next stages of growth and development.
The Ayrshire Hospice provides excellence in palliative and end of life care for adults with life-limiting illness across Ayrshire and Arran. We provide a wide range of services and care in people’s homes, care homes and hospitals, as well as within our In-Patient Unit and Living Well Hubs. In fact, we can provide care anywhere a patient considers their home to be. Family members, close friends and carers are also supported both during a person’s illness and in bereavement. Our vision is to reach and improve the lives of everyone in Ayrshire and Arran affected by life-limiting illness.
Now in our 4th decade and embarking on a transformational upgrade of our home at Racecourse Road, Ayr, there has never been a more exciting time to be an Ayrshire Hospice Trustee. Join us and be part of our unique journey.
The Board is responsible for the strategic direction, accountability of the organisation, as well as risk management, quality and performance monitoring. Trustees are expected to challenge and contribute to the development of the organisation and ensure financial controls and governance systems are robust, transparent and compliant with regulation.
We are specifically seeking a Treasurer position and someone with experience in the health and social care sector with equality and diversity of thought being absolutely important.
We are seeking individuals that:
Have experience navigating change and transformation
Have strong understanding of governance and compliance structures
Can demonstrate passion for and belief in the work that we do
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
Have a proven ability to build and maintain strong and productive relationships
Are committed to equality, diversity and inclusivity at all levels
Specifically, in relation to the Treasurer Trustee position, we are seeking an individual who also has:
Experience of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes
All skill sets and backgrounds will be considered – if you are an innovative and forward-thinking individual who shares our core values, we would like to hear from you.
Trustees should be able to commit to, when possible, attending 4 Board meetings and 4 Board seminars per year. In addition, Trustees are expected to attend any Committees they are allocated to which are held on a quarterly basis.
The total time commitment for a Trustee is equivalent to 1 working day per month (approx.) including Board and Committee meetings which are held in the early evening.
Trustees are also encouraged and will have the opportunity to take part in ambassadorial activities and fundraising events.
